A perfect plan, if you've got 26 weeks worth of vacation.
It's always nice to see a jerk get what's coming, isn't it?

In 2003 Diane Way worked in Toronto for the Canada Revenue Agency - she was a lawyer for the tax people, but I'll let that comic goldmine pass - when she applied for, and was offered, a job in Ottawa with the Canadian Forces Grievance Board.

She took it - signed an offer, checked the box beside the words: “I accept to this offer.”

But she didn't quit her old job. Instead, she took a week's vacation, went to Ottawa and did the orientation thing, got her office and her PC set up, signed up for training.

At the end of the week she went back to Toronto, called in sick to her new job and went to the office at her old one. Did that every day for a week, then took another week's vacation at the old job and went to Ottawa to work for a week at the new one.

Sometime during that week, new job Human Resources spoke to old job Human Resources and the whole plan came unglued. The new place fired her and the old one started an investigation, at the end of which it fired her too.

The Globe and Mail article says that she filed a grievance in which she claimed "she had not technically accepted the job but was just 'checking it out.'"

This week, the Public Service Labour Relations Board told her to take a hike. The Globe said the adjudicator described her credibility as “at best, lacking, if not completely absent!”

As Nelson Muntz would say, "Ha-HAA."
